Some of History:

The Latin American Congress of Mathematical Biology arises from a commitment assumed by Latin American researchers to develop and strengthen the interdisciplinary work of mathematical modeling in biosciences, encouraging the exchange of knowledge across borders, joining efforts in joint projects and participating in training of human resources at regional level.

The proposal had its beginnings in the activities developed by the Latin American Association of Bio-mathematics (ALAB) on the one hand and the Latin American Network of Mathematical Ecology on the other. After several years of developing parallel activities, one with the Latin American Congresses of Biomathematics (CLAB) and the other with the Latin American Meetings on Mathematical Ecology (ELAEM), and proposed by the Brazilian colleagues, the possibility of uniting the respective members in a single entity. In 2001 the first of these Congresses (X CLAB and V ELAEM) was held in Campinas, Brazil. In 2002, the Congress took place in Guanajuato, Mexico, and in 2003 in Armenia, Colombia.

During the 2002 Congress in Guanajuato, the foundations were laid for the new Latin American Society of Mathematical Biology (SOLABIMA) according to which the Steering Committee will be integrated by colleagues from a single country. During the biannual Assembly, the country and the members of the Board of Directors that will act during the following year are elected and the organization of the Congress is entrusted to it. Other SOLABIMA took place in Acapulco, Mexico; Lujan, Argentina; Botucatu, Brazil; Cuzco, Peru.

In the Assembly held during the X Congress 2017 (Peru), Chile was elected as the venue for the X Congress 2019.

Presidente SoLaBiMa

Ago/2017-Oct/2019
